*Grace to Always See Jesus in the Word of God*
_John 5:37-40 (NLT)_

_And the Father who sent me has testified about me himself. You have never heard his voice or seen him face to face and you do not have his message in your hearts, because you do not believe me-the one he sent to you. "You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! Yet you refuse to come to me to receive this life._
It is not just the Word of God that gives us life, but the truth and revelation of Christ in His Word. When the Bible says faith comes by hearing the Word of God, the Bible is referring to hearing the Gospel of Christ; which is the revelation of God's love for us and all He has done for us through Christ, Romans 10:15-17. The Bible is not a history book but it is all about Jesus. Talking about Jesus' encounter with two troubled disciples on their way to Emmaus, Luke 24:25-27 (LB) says, “Then Jesus said to them, "You are such foolish, foolish people! You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the Scriptures! Wasn't it clearly predicted by the prophets that the Messiah would have to suffer all these things before entering his time of glory?" Then Jesus quoted them passage after passage from the writings of the prophets, beginning with the book of Genesis and going right on through the Scriptures, explaining what the passages meant and what they said about himself.”
Jesus is the perfect reflection and representation of the character and the will God, Heb. 1:1-3. This is why when Peter wanted to build three tabernacles for Moses, Elijah and Jesus, God told him to fix all his attention on Jesus, Matt. 17:4-5. The interpretation of any scripture that does not point you in the direction of Jesus and all He has done for you is a wrong interpretation of the scriptures and it would not give you God's life. Only the revelation of Christ in the Word of God can build and stir up the life of Christ that is in you.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, as I study your Word, please reveal Jesus and all the wonderful things you have done for me through Him.
