*The Love Revolution*
John 3:16 (AMP) “For God so [greatly] loved and dearly prized the world, that He [even] gave His [One and] only begotten Son, so that whoever believes and trusts in Him [as Savior] shall not perish, but have eternal life.
2 Corinthians 5:19 (LB) For God was in Christ, restoring the world to himself, no longer counting men’s sins against them but blotting then out. This is the wonderful message he has given us to tell others.
John 15:13 (AMPC) No one has greater love [no one has shown stronger affection] than to lay down (give up) his own life for his friends.
You cannot talk about love without talking about the love of God and you cannot talk about the love of God without talking about Jesus on the Cross that came to save the world and bring all who will receive God’s love into God’s own family. God is love personified. He does not just have love; He is love, 1 John 4:8 & 16. You cannot really have love if you do not have Him. God’s way of taking over the world is by spreading His love. Instead of destroying the world for its sins, God reconcile the world to Himself. Like our second text above says, it was God who was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself and instead of counting people’s sins against them He took it upon Himself and died with it on the Cross. John the Baptist said behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world, John 1:29. The highest level of love that the world understands and can reflect is when someone decides to die or give up his life for his friends. Many people cannot even do this. But the way God showed His love to us is that it was while we were yet sinners that Christ died for us, Rom. 5:8. What manner of love is this?
All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and all can bow receive justification through the redemption and grace in Christ Jesus, Rom. 3:23-24. You and I have been given a great responsibility to spread and reflect the love of God that is in Christ by preaching the gospel both with our words and with our actions. We need to flood the world with the love of God, Hab. 2:14. The more people understand the great and unconditional love God has for them, the more they will be drawn to Him. We must also continue to receive this love and be filled with God’s fullness (Eph. 3:19) by the help of His Spirit, Rom. 5:5.
Prayer Focus:
Worship God for being love. Ask Him to fill your heart with His love and to use you to keep spreading the knowledge of His love to others.
Bible in one year reading plan: Leviticus 15-16, Matthew 27:1-26.
