| Christ's Glorious Return |
|
Acts 1:9-11And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.
Jesus is coming back again! This second coming of Jesus is going to be magnificent and something very glorious is going to happen to us. We are going to see Christ and become exactly as He is. We are going to be gloriously changed and transfigured forever. Colossians 3:4 says, when Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. 1 John 3:2-3 (NIV) says, dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope in him purifies himself, just as he is pure.
Christ's second coming will be far more glorious than we can ever imagine it to be. Colossians 1:27 says, Christ in us, the hope of glory. This hope was so strong in the early Church and it needs to be strong in us also. It produced the kind of faith in God and love for one another that they had, Col.1:4-5. It also produced in them the willingness and courage to stay pure and to
sacrifice their lives for God and the preaching of the gospel. God wants us to have this same hope envelope us. He wants it to affect the way we lead our lives on this earth. Never lose sight of this hope. Titus 2:13 describes this glorious appearing of Christ as the blessed hope that we should continually look forward to. 1Peter 1:13 (NIV) says, therefore, prepare your minds for
action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.
PRAYER FOCUS: Thank God for this blessed hope He has given you in Christ and pray that this hope will continually produce great fruit in your life.
