The Joy and Blessings of Godliness
1Timothy 4:8 (NKJV & NLT), Hebrews 1:9 (NIV)
For bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. *“Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.” *You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.”

Maintaining God's perspective on things also enables us to manifest God's attitude towards those things. Our consciousness of the joy and blessings that God gives us for living godly lives produces joy and commitment in us. Jesus pleased God by enduring the cross and despising the shame because of the joy that was set before Him, Heb.12:2. Romans 14:17 reveals that “the kingdom of God is … righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” God's divine peace and joy always accompanies our lives as we walk in His righteous ways. Like our last text above says, our passion for godliness causes God to anoint us with His joy and sets us above those around us. He makes us cities set on hills that cannot be hid. He promotes and positions us to shine our lights for others to see.
As you commit to living right, God will use you mightily (2Tim.2:21) and your life will bring glory to His Name. You will stand out and be a light indeed. Proverbs 16:7 (NKJV) declares that, “when a man's ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” Godliness will attract supernatural favour into your life. Be encouraged, child of God. Jesus assured us that for every sacrifice we make to follow Him, we will receive a hundred fold and inherit eternal life, Matt. 19:27-29. People like Joseph and Daniel in the Bible did not regret living godly lives. Similarly, we will not regret our choice to lead godly lives. God will bless us, promote us and use us in even greater measure.
PRAYER: Dear Father, I desire to commit myself more to godliness. Help me never to lose sight of the joy and blessings of godliness.
