Brotherly Love

Brotherly Love

Hebrews 13:1-3 (NKJV)
Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels. Remember the prisoners as if chained with them — those who are mistreated — since you yourselves are in the body also.

Author1 PhotoGod expects us to care for and love one another, just as He has loved us. Although we, as believers, do not see God in the flesh, we must always remember that we bear His image and serve as His representatives on the earth. We are God's heart to love, His hands to touch, His legs to go and His body to carry out every good work on the earth.

James, the Apostle, did not instruct us to tell a brother who is hungry to be filled in the name of Jesus. Rather, we are instructed to feed such a brother because faith without works is dead. The second verse of our text implores us to entertain strangers because in so doing, many have entertained angels unknowingly. Child of God, isn't that amazing? We recall the story of Abraham in the book of Genesis and how, although strangers, he entertained and fed God and his angels in his home. As a result, God blessed him, confirming that by the same time the following year, he would have a child.

God wants you to show love, not only to those who are known around you but also to strangers because you never can tell when you will be entertaining God. Verse three of our text further encourages us to go the extra mile to remember those in the prisons, those in the hospitals and those without help. God is imploring us today to reach out to our community with love because we are His body on the earth to bless others.

PRAYER FOCUS: Father, I thank You for the privilege of being used by You to be a blessing to those around me. I thank You because doors are opened everyday around me to be a blessing always.
