Patiently Wait

Patiently Wait

James 1:2-5, 1 Tim 6:11 (NKJV)
My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.*But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.

Author PhotoWe know, beyond all measure of doubt, that God has promised us peace. However, scripture also confirms that as long as we are in this world we will have troubles. How then does God expect us to deal with the troubles of this world when they come knocking?

Our text encourages us to 'count it all joy' when we go through diverse trials and temptation. This is the posture and attitude that God wants us to assume whenever we are faced with trials and temptation. It is an attitude of joy and thanksgiving. In the early days, when the church was being persecuted, the people rejoiced for being counted worthy to suffer for God. Not that suffering or tribulation is a good thing but our joy and thanksgiving in the midst of our troubles disarms principality and power and builds within us the capacity to trust in God.

Trials and temptation come to build patience and faith in the believer. Our first text says, But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. The test of our faith in God occurs in the midst of many troubles. The good thing is that God does not abandon us when we are going through these trials; neither will He allow a temptation that we cannot bear come our way. Child of God, you will reap the benefit of that trouble if you faint not. Hold fast, stand your ground and you will see the salvation of God.
PRAYER FOCUS:  Lord Jesus, I thank You for Your strength that is at work within me. I overcome every trial and temptation daily by Your spirit. Amen.
