Praying Through the Psalms Day 194
Psalm 20:7
Some nations boast of their chariots and horses,
but we boast in the name of the LORD our God.
Some nations boast of their chariots and horses,
but we boast in the name of the LORD our God.
Truth of the Day
I should never feel as if I have accomplished anything, but should always boast in what God has done.
Personalizing This Truth
It is sometimes so easy for me to look at my education, my accomplishments, and even my skills and feel that I have achieved something. For some, their bank account or their home or any one of a number of different things leads me to believe that I have attained something important. I am not saying that we shouldn’t take pride in what we do or feel happy when we find success. That’s okay to feel.

However, we should never boast about it. We should never talk in such a way that tries to let everyone else know what we have done. Instead, we should use these triumphs to exalt God. My challenge is to find an even deeper and more meaningful way to exalt God in our victories than just the simple homage we see from athletes on TV who say they want to give God all the credit. There is nothing wrong with that. I love it when they do it. But don’t make that statement a simple tagline to your life. Use it as a jumping off point to truly demonstrate that God really is deserving of all the credit.
Prayer
Father God, all too often I have boasted in my accomplishments rather than boasting in what You have done. I don’t always overtly boast about things, but quite often I am much more subtle in that I act in such a way as to draw attention to myself or what I have done. Lord, teach me how to look for ways to boast in You instead of drawing attention to myself.
