Isaiah 1:19, Romans 6:16-18
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land. *Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

Obeying God willingly is indeed the best thing that we can ever do for ourselves. The harvest of our obedience to God always exceeds whatever sacrifice and pain we may experience during our obedience.
For example, as we deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Christ (Luke 9:23), what He is forming us into is something we can never buy with money or earn by our own efforts. Acts 4:13 records that people could not comprehend how the lives of Peter and John were far more glorious than their status or academic background- all because they had been following Jesus. When Jesus Himself was on the earth, He humbled Himself and was obedient to God, even to the point of dying on the Cross. Right now, God has highly exalted Him and given Him a name above every other name, both in Heaven, on earth and under the earth, Phil.2:8-9.
Obey God immediately. Delayed obedience is rebellion. Obey willingly (from your heart). Fix your eyes on the joy of pleasing God and the great reward that accompanies obedience. People like Joseph and Daniel did not allow anyone or anything to keep them from obeying God and God rewarded and blessed them greatly for it. God has empowered you to obey Him. He is always at work in you, making you willing and able to do His will, Phil.2:13. Whenever you choose to obey God, particularly when it does not feel convenient to your flesh, you are sowing to the spirit and you will reap life everlasting, Gal.6:8. Let your love and reverence for God keep motivating you to obey God.
PRAYER FOCUS: Thank God for empowering you to obey Him. Tell Him you love Him and tell Him that you desire to obey Him more.
