Lay Aside Those Weights

Lay Aside Those Weights

SUNDAY
JUNE. 25

Hebrews 12:1
Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.

Have you ever seen an athlete about to run a race wearing heavy clothing and weighted shoes? How far and how fast do you think such an athlete would be able to run? To successfully run this race that God has set before you, you must put off the attitudes and lifestyles that pertain to your former life and put on the attitude and lifestyle of Christ. That is all you need. Romans 13:13-14 (NKJV) says, “let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.”

Colossians 3:9-14 (GNB) says, “do not lie to one another, for you have put off the old self with its habits and have put on the new self. This is the new being which God, its Creator, is constantly renewing in his own image, in order to bring you to a full knowledge of himself. As a result, there is no longer any distinction between Gentiles and Jews, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarians, savages, slaves, and free, but Christ is all, Christ is in all. You are the people of God; he loved you and chose you for his own. So then, you must clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Be tolerant with one another and forgive one another whenever any of you has a complaint against someone else. You must forgive one another just as the Lord has forgiven you. And to all these qualities add love, which binds all things together in perfect unity.” God is at work in you, empowering you to do His will, Phil.2:13.

FAITH DECLARATION : By the power of God's Spirit I am continually laying aside every weight and sin and I am putting on more of Christ.
