Strengthen Your Focus on Christ

 Strengthen Your Focus on Christ

THURSDAY
JUNE. 15

 Matthew 14:28-31 (GNB)
Then Peter spoke up. "Lord, if it is really you, order me to come out on the water to you." "Come!" answered Jesus. So Peter got out of the boat and started walking on the water to Jesus. But when he noticed the strong wind, he was afraid and started to sink down in the water. "Save me, Lord!" he cried. At once Jesus reached out and grabbed hold of him and said, "What little faith you have! Why did you doubt?"

Child of God, your ability to remain strong and to continue doing exploits will be greatly affected by your ability to keep your focus on Jesus. In our text above, Peter's faith was weakened when he lost his focus on Christ and focused on the winds. There will be fierce winds of doctrines that will blow and cause you to be tossed to and fro, Eph.4:14-15. Tribulation and persecution will try to distract you. The cares of this life and the deceitfulness of riches will try to distract you, Matt.13:20-23. Negative rains, floods and winds are going to violently beat against your life, but as you remain focused on Christ by hearing and doing His Word, you will remain strong and standing, Matt.7:24-25.

Winds of strife and offences will come to shake you but if you determine not to lose sight of Christ and the grace of God He has made available to you, you will remain strong and you will continue doing exploits. Control yourself by the power of God's Spirit in you. Bitterness and trouble often result from losing sight of God's grace, Heb. 12:14-15. Be quick to hear, but slow to speak and slow to become angry. Remember that man's anger does not work out God's righteousness, James 1:19-20.

Don't even let activities and busyness distract you from Christ the way that Martha was distracted as Mary received grace from Jesus, Luke 10:38-40. Keep looking unto Jesus because He is the author and the finisher of your faith, Heb.12:2.
PRAYER FOCUS: Receive God's grace to strengthen your focus on Christ. Declare that no wind will distract you from focusing on Christ and that no situation will cause your faith to collapse or sink.
