Victory over Trials and Persecutions

Victory over Trials and Persecutions

TUESDAY
JUNE. 27

Acts 8:1-2 And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.

Great persecution will arise because of your faith and passion to serve God. The devil will do everything possible to discourage you from remaining strong in your faith in God. He will also do everything to stop you from any activity you are engaged in that will save sinners or encourage other believers. Just as believers were arrested, threatened, beaten or discriminated against in the early church, many believers are still being persecuted in the same way today. Jesus told us that in this world we would have tribulation but we encouraged us to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world, John 16:33. In the same way the early believers remained strong in faith and continued to preach the gospel of Christ, we too must keep the faith and continue to preach the gospel and do exploits for God. We must pray for believers who are being persecuted and we must not fear persecution ourselves because of our faith in God.

Like the early church, we must continue to please God rather than men, Acts 5:29. Despite the threats that we face, we must continue to pray and stir up the boldness and power of the Spirit to keep forging forward with exploits, Acts 4:31. We must never be ashamed of our relationship with Christ. Stephen was glad to die for Christ. He even prayed to God to forgive those who killed him, Acts 7:55-60. He was victorious and strong in Christ, even in death. Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. In all these things, we are more than conquerors through Him that loves us, Rom.8:35-39. God will continue to cause us to triumph in Christ and through us, He will spread the fragrance of Christ everywhere, 2Cor.2:14.

PRAYER FOCUS:
Pray for God's strength upon all believers; especially those being tried and persecuted right now.
