Practice Hospitality

Practice Hospitality

SUNDAY
JUNE. 18

Romans 12:12-13 (NIV), 1 Peter 4:8-10 (NIV)
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality. *Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms.

Showing hospitality is about receiving and treating family, friends, guests or strangers in a warm, friendly and generous way. God wants us to deem showing hospitality a privilege and joy, not a burden. He wants us to remain joyful about expressing His love and care unto others. Practice showing hospitality in your own little way and do not allow anything to impede the blessing of being a hospitable person. Jesus said there were many widows in Israel, but it was only the widow of Zarephath that Elijah was sent to, Luke 4:25-26. It may have been because she did not allow her condition to prevent her from being hospitable, even to strangers.

Galatians 6:9-10 says, “and let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Be a cheerful giver unto others. Hebrews 13:1-2 implores us to let brotherly love continue. Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Showing hospitality can even open up channels for you to preach the gospel unto others. In Romans 12:20-21, the Bible instructs us that “therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” People will be surprised and can be greatly influenced by your attitude and show of love. Always remember that you are doing it unto the Lord and that He Himself will reward you for your love and hospitality.

PRAYER : Heavenly Father, I receive your power and grace to be a more hospitable person to everyone I come in contact with.
