Praying Through the Psalms Day 192
Psalm 20:5
May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory
and raise a victory banner in the name of our God.
May the LORD answer all your prayers
May we shout for joy when we hear of your victory
and raise a victory banner in the name of our God.
May the LORD answer all your prayers
Truth of the Day
Celebrate every time God answers a prayer.
Celebrate every time God answers a prayer.
Personalizing This Truth
What if God’s answer to my next prayer was directly proportional to how much I thanked Him and celebrated His answer to my last prayer. Would I then continue to receive answers to my prayers or would my prayers fall on deaf ears? Of course, God does not work this way. His love for me is everlasting and is not dependent on my reactions to Him.
However, that does not change the fact that God desires for me to be not must eternally grateful to Him, but grateful in the moment. It is easy to have the eternal idea of gratefulness to God for the things He has done. I sing about it and I occasionally talk about it and sometimes even pray about it. But those times are more often seen in a universal or even generic type gratefulness. I thank Him that He has blessed me and in times of special reminders I thank Him for sending His Son to die for my sins. But what about the moment? What about today? Am I demonstrating gratefulness right now?
God knew my propensity to take Him for granted. He knew the slant that the Old Testament Jews had to forget what God had done. That is why He put into place times of remembrance that He wants His people to celebrate. But what if I would celebrate God’s goodness every day!
Prayer
Father God, remind me each morning and evening to never take Your answers to prayer for granted. Remind me and motivate me to be grateful and to celebrate even the smallest answers to prayer. I don’t want to be one who is grateful occasionally, but one who celebrates You always.
