Allow God's Word To Take Root in You

Allow God's Word To Take Root in You

Matthew 13:3b, 5, 20 & 21
…Behold, a sower went forth to sow; *Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: *But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

Author PhotoThe manner in which you receive the word of God is good and important but it is not a guarantee of your victory and fruitfulness. So many believers are excited and full of faith when they hear the word of God, but they do not go back to that word and meditate and pray over it again and again until it fully settles into their hearts. It is not the excitement of God's word that gives light, but the entrance of His words (Psal.119:130). You must allow the word of God to take deep root in you. One give away that the word of God is in you is in your ability to remember it and hold on to it by believing and declaring it, even in trying times. This is what causes the word to produce fruit in your life.

Remember, child of God, that often times, the devil is not really after you per se; what He is after is your faith and trust in God and His word.

Joy is one of the signs that your focus remains on God and His promises to you. When you allow what you are going through to make you offended, it is evidence that you have let go of God's word and His promises to you about that situation. It is a sign that you have lost focus and just like it happened to Peter when he removed his focus from Jesus and placed it on the boisterous wind, you will find yourself sinking when your focus is the situation and not on how wonderful God's love, power and promises are for you. Deliberately let go of everything that is distracting you from maintaining your daily personal time in prayer and study of God's Word.

PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, I receive Your grace to spend more quality time in praying and meditating on Your word daily.
