1Corinthians 15:10, John 15:5, Acts 17:28 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.*I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. *For in him we live, and move, and have our being; …for we are also his offspring.
We are nothing without the mercy and the grace of God. In fact, everything we are is by His abundant mercies and grace. All good and perfect gifts come from God (James 1:17) and promotion comes from God (Psa.75:6-7). It is because of His mercies that we have been preserved and not consumed, Lam.3:22. Our willingness to always acknowledge this and express it to God is a sign of humility. One good result of this posture is that we can be assured that God gives grace to the humble, James 4:6. David severally and sincerely acknowledged that it was God who made him king of Israel, 2Sam.6:21-22. In John 19:10-11, Jesus reminded Pilate that the only way Pilate could have any power over Him was if that power was given to Pilate by God.
After King Nebuchadnezzar had been warned in a dream twelve months earlier, he was walking in his palace one day when he said, “is this not the great Babylon that I have built by my power and for my glory? Before he finished making the statement, he heard a voice from heaven and he was driven from among men and caused to live among wild animals, Dan.4:30-33. After seven years, he came back to his senses and he praised the name of God. His position of authority was restored to him, Dan.4:34-36. Daniel 4:37 (GNB) says, "and now, I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, honor, and glorify the King of Heaven. Everything he does is right and just, and he can humble anyone who acts proudly." We must also always acknowledge God for all the wonderful things that He has done for us in Christ by His grace.
PRAYER FOCUS: Think of all God’s grace, goodness, mercies and faithfulness in your life. Praise, worship and thank Him for them.
