Do not Observe Lying Vanities 2

Do not Observe Lying Vanities 2

Jonah 2:8 (KJV, NKJV, NIV, Living Bible)
They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. *"Those who regard worthless idols forsake their own Mercy. *"Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs. *(Those who worship false gods have turned their backs on all the mercies waiting for them from the Lord!)

Author PhotoToday, we will study some other ways that the devil tempts us to observe lying vanities and forsake our mercy. Many believers forsake the grace and mercy that God wants to give to them by simply refusing to spend time in God's presence, Heb.4:16. Our refusal to pray and fellowship with God is actually a form of pride. It is pride because such believers think that they can do without God. It is pride because they place their hopes either in themselves or in some other things or persons and therefore, do not value spending time in fellowship with God.

When we are envious and jealous of others, we are observing lying vanities and forsaking our own mercy. Envy and jealousy can make you ungrateful for what you have and where you are. They will cause you to maintain a competitive mindset with those that you are comparing yourselves with. You may even find yourself trying to do things that are not meant for you, simply because you want some form of recognition or fame that you feel they have and you don't. Thank God for the good things that you see in others but don't let that distract you. Be grateful and content with what you have and remain focused on God. Allow Him to lead you and work His will in you.

No matter what you see physically, never allow it to cause you to doubt your spiritual reality in God. Be it sin, sickness, poverty, negative attitudes from others, difficulties or even failure. They are all lying vanities. The truth is who God says you are. Keep declaring God's love and His word for you. As you choose to stay in faith, you please God and your realities in God become your experience in the natural.

PRAYER:
Lord, I receive Your grace to draw near to You. Help me never to envy others or be distracted from Your truth concerning me.
