Following Hard After God 2

Following Hard After God 2

Philippians 3:7-8, Psalm 63:1 (NIV)
But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, *“You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.”

Author PhotoThe great personal value that you place on having a strong and closer walk with God is what will cause you to make the necessary sacrifices to walk closer to Him. Beloved, there are very great blessings and benefits of maintaining a closer walk with God. He has not called us to seek Him in vain, Isa.45:19. God is, and He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him, Heb.11:6. The greatest of these blessings and benefits is becoming more and more like Him. We have great hope, both in this life and in the life to come, as we continually seek God and walk closely with Him.

Another thing that will cause you to follow hard after God is your understanding of His great and amazing love for you. God assures us that He loves us with an everlasting love and as such, He draws us to Himself with His loving kindness, Jer.31:3. Apostle Paul said, ‘the love of Christ constrains us’, 2Cor.5:14. The Bible further declares that we love Him because He first loved us, 1John 4:19. It is our understanding of His great love for us that propels us to draw nearer to Him and to love Him even more. Ephesians 3:19 assures us that when we are filled with the knowledge of the love of Christ, we will be filled with the fullness of God. Among other things, David must have maximized his free time while he was taking care of his father’s sheep in the fields to seek God and develop a close relationship with God. When something is a priority to you, you will make time to engage it. Let God’s great love for you motivate you to carve out time to fellowship and draw nearer to Him.

PRAYER: Seeking You and drawing nearer to You is my priority, Dear Lord. Fill my heart with Your love and with more of Your fullness.
