*Thanksgiving is Great Wisdom*
_Ephesians 5:17-20,_ 1Thessalonians 5:18
_Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess;
but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. *In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.__Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess;
Our first text above reveals to us that God does not want us to be unwise; rather, He wants us to understand His will. Our second text above elucidates this point, directing us to precisely what God's will is: thanksgiving! As you give thanks today, you are doing God's will and I'm sure you know that doing God's will attracts His blessings upon your life. Two of the blessings of being thankful to God are increase and fruitfulness. Psalm 67:5-7 says, Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him. Even natural things around you will experience the fruitfulness and increase. Another blessing of thanksgiving is wholeness. Do you remember what happened to the one leper that came back to thank Jesus after he was healed, Luke 17:17-19? Jesus was looking for the other nine to give them wholeness but He didn't see them. As you thank God today, a new level of wholeness and completeness is coming upon your life and family.
Now, our first text above also shows us that major fruits of the filling of the Spirit are praising, worshipping and giving thanks to God. When the Holy Spirit was poured out in Acts 2, the first thing the Spirit moved the disciples of Jesus to do was to declare the wonders of God, Acts 2:11.
The Holy Spirit is filling you right now and empowering you to give God thanks like never before. You will sing, dance, shout, pray, praise and worship God in a new way today. You will do so by the Spirit.
THANKSGIVING GUIDE:
Receive the empowerment of the Spirit to thank God today like never before. Begin to thank God as you are led.
