The Gospel of Christ and the Power of His Spirit

Galatians 3:2, 5-6 (GNB) Tell me this one thing: did you receive God’s Spirit by doing what the law requires or by hearing the gospel and believing it? 5 Does God give you the Spirit and work miracles among you because you do what the Law requires or because you hear the gospel and believe it? Consider the experience of Abraham; as the scripture says, “He believed God, and because of his faith God accepted him as righteous.”
Romans 1:16 (GNB) I have complete confidence in the gospel; it is God’s power to save all who believe, first the Jews and also the Gentiles.

We studied yesterday that our consciousness of God’s love attracts and activates the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. Nothing shows us God’s love for us like what He did on the cross for us through Christ and this is what the Gospel is all about. Therefore, if we want to see the power of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives and the lives of others we must keep hearing, believing and preaching the Gospel of Christ. The Gospel is the too good to be true news of the love of God for us that He has manifested through Jesus. The gospel is about the grace of God, (Acts 20:24 & Gal. 1:6-7). The Law was given by Moses but grace and truth came by Christ, John 1:17. It is the revelation of God’s grace that builds us up and gives us our inheritance in Christ, Acts 20:32. Acts 14:3 (NLT) says, “But the apostles stayed there a long time, preaching boldly about the grace of the Lord. And the Lord proved their message was true by giving them power to do miraculous signs and wonders.”

Take a look at Acts 10:42-44 – “He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name. While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message”. The message of God’s grace in Christ attracted the outpouring of the Spirit. On the day Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the Law, he broke the two tablets of stone and 3,000 people died, Exo. 32:19 & 28. But on the day the disciples received the Holy Spirit in the upper room Peter preached boldly about Christ and 3,000 souls were saved, Acts 2:14 & 41.
Prayer:

Dear Father, I thank you that as I keep hearing, believing and preaching the Gospel of Christ, I experience the power of your Spirit in my life.
