Honouring One Another in Our Nation
1Peter 2:17(KJV, GNB), Rom.14:19(GNB), Heb.12:14(GNB) Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. *Respect everyone, love other believers, honor God, and respect the Emperor.*So then, we must always aim at those things that bring peace and that help strengthen one another. *Try to be at peace with everyone, and try to live a holy life, because no one will see the Lord without it.
According to 2Chronicles 7:14, the healing of our land is not only tied to our humility and prayers; but also to turning away from our wicked ways. We must change the way that we value and treat one another if we want to see God show Himself strong in our lives and in our nation. God wants us to honour all men, not just those that we like, those that honour us or those that we hope to obtain things from. To honour all men is to treat everyone with dignity, fairness and justice. It is to treat everyone in the same way God would because they are made in His image and likeness and because they are beloved by Him. Honouring all men requires that we eliminate tribal or any other sentimental form of discrimination, using Jesus as our sole unifier.
When you honour people, you will not cheat or hurt them. You will also not talk bad about them, whether in their presence or absence. Instead, you will always desire good for them and pray for them. You will treat them the exact way that you would like to be treated. You will value them and treat them the way God values them and wants them to be treated. Even when we have grievances and misunderstandings, there is a right and honourable way to go about resolving them. God wants us to pray for all men and for those in authority. He also wants us to desire their salvation, 1Tim.2:1-4. I believe that one of the good works that people need to see to glorify our Father in Heaven is the way in which we honour and treat each other rightly, Matt.5:16. A lot of evil will be averted and our nation will be better as we choose to give more honour to each other.
PRAYER: I receive Your grace, Dear Lord, to keep honouring everyone in my nation, no matter how I am treated.
