*Knowing God and Walking with Him*
*Amos 3:3, Psalms 103:6-8, lsaiah 55:8 (GNB & NLT)*
Can two walk together, except they be agreed? *The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment.... He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the Children of lsrael.
The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. *"My thoughts", says the LORD, "are not like yours, and my ways are different from yours. *"My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” ...“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.
In the Bible, the word 'walk' does not refer to the physical footsteps that you take. It refers to your character, mindset, attitudes and the way you live your life. Like we studied yesterday, knowing God is not about having a head knowledge of God or just being aware that God exists. It is having an intimate and tangible experience of God through faith in Jesus Christ. There is a big difference between knowing about someone and having a real and intimate relationship with the person. One major effect of being in a friendship or relationship with someone is that with time, the person's character and nature begins to rub off on you. In the same way, as you grow in your knowledge of God, it will reflect in the way that you live your life. You will find yourself understanding and manifesting His ways and character.
The real expression of your spiritual growth and knowing God is not in he things you receive from God or in His power that you manifest. It is more in His character and nature that you manifest. As you know God more and more, you will walk in the Spirit and you will manifest the fruit of the Spirit, Gal. 5:16-26. You will walk by faith, not by sight, 2 Cor. 5:7. You will walk in love, Eph. 5:2. You will walk in God's power and victory. You won't walk in the counsel of the ungodly, Psa. 1:1. You will walk in the light. You will walk uprightly and in integrity. You would not live your life anyhow. You will be watchful and careful about how you live, Eph. 5:15-17, 1 Pet. 5:8-9. Most importantly, you will walk or live your life just like Jesus did, 1 John 2:6.
