*The Value System of Those who Desire to Know Jesus*
_PhiIippians 3:3-4, 7-8_
_For we ...rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Though I might also have confidence in the flesh.
If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: *But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but Ioss for the exceIIency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.__For we ...rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. Though I might also have confidence in the flesh.
If we are really going to focus on Christ to know Him as we should, then our value system must be different from that of the people of the world around us. We must value knowing Christ and becoming like Him more than we value everything else in our lives. We must know how to put aside our status, connections, wealth and achievements when it comes to seeking Jesus to know Him. Apostle Paul had so many achievements that could have made him proud and feel that he had arrived. But when he put them side by side with knowing Jesus, he counted everything else as loss and as dung.
In Jeremiah 9:23-24 (GNB), The LORD says, The wise should not boast of their wisdom, nor the strong of their strength, nor the rich of their wealth. If any want to boast, they should boast that they know and understand me, because my love is constant, and I do what is just and right. These are the things that please me. I, the LORD, have spoken." In Luke 12:15 (GNB), Jesus said ...your true life is not made up of the things you own, no matter how rich you may be. In 2 Corinthians 5:16-17 (GNB), Apostle Paul said, no longer, then, do we judge anyone by human standards. Even if at one time we judged Christ according to human standards, we no longer do so. Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come. The way we judge ourselves right now is by who we are in Christ. We must value our relationship with Jesus more than every other relationship we have, Luke 14:25-27 (GNB).
Faith Declaration:
I value knowing Jesus more than everything I am or have. Knowing Jesus and being like Him is my greatest passion.
I value knowing Jesus more than everything I am or have. Knowing Jesus and being like Him is my greatest passion.
