*Our Sonship Responsibilities*
*John 5:17 & 19 (NLT), Luke 2:49-50 (AMP)*
But Jesus replied, “My Father is always working and so am l.” * .., “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself. He does only what he sees the Father doing.
Whatever the Father does, the Son also does. *And He said to them, How is it that you had to look for Me? Did you not see and know that it is necessary [as a duty] for Me to be in My Fathers house and [occupied] about My Fathers business? But they did not comprehend what He was saying to them.
Jesus did not only maintain a very close relationship with God the Father while He was on the earth, He was also very passionate about knowing what the Father's will is and doing it. Jesus was willing to manifest the character of the Father and do the Father's work. He was passionate about understanding the Father's heart and running with it. Jesus was so sure that He was manifesting the Father's character that He could say, "if you have seen me you have seen the Father”, John 14:9. He was surely not talking about His physical looks but rather His character and nature. As a child of God in what way are you representing God your Father? In what way is your character reflecting Him?
Jesus did not just do whatever He liked to do. He did what He saw the Father doing. He did what will bring glory to the Name of the Father and please the Father's heart. He knew He was an extension of the Father as such He wanted to ensure that He was manifesting the Father's will at all times no matter what it would cost Him. Jesus was passionate about doing the work of the Father. Right from a very young age He was learning in the temple and preparing Himself to fulfill the mission that the Father had given Him. He did the work of the Father with urgency, John 9:4. His utmost satisfaction came from doing the work of the Father. He said my meat is to do the will of Him and finish His work, John 4:34. What gives you your greatest satisfaction in life? Throw yourself into doing the Father's business.
*Prayer Focus:*
