And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering (Luke 9:29)
Many times, people pray, "O God, let your glory rest upon me." But in the New Testament, that's a wrong prayer. Many pray that way because they admire what happened with Moses in the Old Testament; the glory of God that came upon Him and rested on his countenance. But we have something better than that today, because the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of glory, lives in us.
What we have in us is a more excellent glory; a surpassing glory: "For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth. For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious" (2 Corinthians 3:10-11). Read our theme verse again; it says, "And as he prayed,...
