The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep. *I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd.

As Jesus required Peter to take care of His sheep as proof of his love for Him, He also requires the same from you and from me today. If we don't take care of God's sheep, they will be devoured by ravenous wolves. Because a single soul is worth more than all the wealth of the world put together, the greatest thing on the mind of God the Father is the redemption of all mankind back to Him. God the Father is giving us an opportunity to partner with Him as He extends His great love for the lost world through His only begotten Son for the salvation and restoration of the lost to Himself, John 3:16.
Taking care of God's sheep includes not only bringing people into a relationship with God, but also empowering them to grow effectively in their relationship with God. We are also required to strengthen and guard the faith of God's children as they are being built up into the image of Christ. To take care of God's sheep, we must be willing to pray, evangelize, love, teach, follow up, disciple and empower God's children to be all that God intended for them to be. We must do all these things with gladness and willingness of heart because of our love for God. Reconciling men back to God is a ministry that has been given to every believer, 2Cor.5:18. If you are willing to join God in this business, you will share in His power, His resources and His joy. The Holy Spirit will continually empower you to do exploits in taking care of God's sheep.
PRAYER FOCUS: Receive a fresh empowerment of the Holy Spirit to reach out to the lost much more and to contribute towards the strengthening of the faith of other believers.
