Empowered for Victory in All Your Battles 2
Numbers 14:6-9 (NKJV)
But Joshua ..and Caleb .
But Joshua ..and Caleb .
KEY VERSE: For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; (1 Thessalonians 4:3-4)
Of the many false teachings that fill the Christian landscape today, none is perhaps more damaging than the fallacy that all our sins - past, present and future - are forgiven and that we can live the way we like. Every true Christian must be concerned about holiness of life. Charles Spurgeon captured it thus, " A faith which works not for purification will work for putrefaction. Unless our faith makes us pine after holiness, it is no better than the faith of devils, and perhaps it is not even so good as that. A holy man is the workmanship of the Holy Spirit."
When Paul the apostle exhorted the Thessalonian believers to please God in the way they walk, he specially harped on the pertinence of purity of life. He was emphatic about the nature of the general calling of believers: "God hath not called us unto uncleanness but unto holiness"; that God's will and expectation is that Christians should be pure and chaste. Their lifestyle was to contrast with those of the unbelieving Gentiles of their day who were addicted to lusts of the flesh, fornication, adultery and all manner of uncleanness.
We also live in an era when obscenity, pornography, fleshly lusts, sexual pervasion and all sorts of uncleanness are encouraged, promoted and celebrated. This evil is increasingly fuelled by the mass media, internet, the entertainment industry and a host of other institutions run by agents of darkness. Satan is fighting his last battle and has unleashed the lethal weapon of sexual impurity and perversion to herd souls to hell.
While every sinner should repent and be cleansed by Christ's blood, the believer should "possess his vessel in sanctification and honour" through constant prayer, absolute reliance on God's grace, wholehearted consecration, conscious discipline of the body and untiring efforts to always put on the whole armour of God.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: In God's house, only purged and consecrated vessels are for His use and honour.

PONDER:
1. Immorality, in different shades and forms, including mental, feelings, affections or "the very act" is one of the most deadly virus killing and maiming many in these last days.
2. While the careless and the unconverted may give excuses or justification in order to escape the conviction by the Spirit, the Text makes it clear that the sanctification of the Spirit, entire purity and victory is real. Are you 100% free in your heart and action?
3. Anybody who has fallen before or has never fallen should personally understand him/herself and know what to do to avoid falling and remain holy. v4.
4. Personal consecration will yield the fruit of personal holiness. No need for comparison.
5. Concupiscence is mental formication and Jesus said it is the same as fornication in Matthew 5.

HYMN: Called unto Holiness
1. Called unto holiness," Church of our God,
Purchase of Jesus, redeemed by His blood;
Called from the world and its idols to flee,
Called from the bondage of sin to be free.
Purchase of Jesus, redeemed by His blood;
Called from the world and its idols to flee,
Called from the bondage of sin to be free.
Chorus:
"Holiness unto the Lord" is our watchword and song,"
"Holiness unto the Lord" as we're marching along;
Sing it, shout it, loud and long,
"Holiness unto the Lord," now and forever.
"Holiness unto the Lord" is our watchword and song,"
"Holiness unto the Lord" as we're marching along;
Sing it, shout it, loud and long,
"Holiness unto the Lord," now and forever.
2 "Called unto holiness," children of light,
Walking with Jesus in garments of white;
Raiment unsullied, untarnished with sin,
God's Holy Spirit abiding within. [Chorus]
Walking with Jesus in garments of white;
Raiment unsullied, untarnished with sin,
God's Holy Spirit abiding within. [Chorus]
3 "Called unto holiness," praise His dear name!
This blessed secret to faith now made plain,
Not our own righteousness, but Christ within,
Living and reigning and saving from sin. [Chorus]
This blessed secret to faith now made plain,
Not our own righteousness, but Christ within,
Living and reigning and saving from sin. [Chorus]
4 "Called unto holiness," glorious thought!
Up from the wilderness wanderings brought,
Out from the shadows and darkness of night,
Into the Canaan of perfect delight. [Chorus]
Up from the wilderness wanderings brought,
Out from the shadows and darkness of night,
Into the Canaan of perfect delight. [Chorus]
5 "Called unto holiness," Bride of the Lamb,
Waiting the Bridegroom's returning again;
Lift up your heads, for the day draweth near
When in His beauty the King shall appear. [Chorus]
Waiting the Bridegroom's returning again;
Lift up your heads, for the day draweth near
When in His beauty the King shall appear. [Chorus]
