Kingdom Principles of Greatness 5
Malachi 1:6 (NIV), Romans 12:10 (NIV), Romans 13:7 (NLT)
"A son honors his father, and a servant his master. If I am a father, where is the honor due me? If I am a master, where is the respect due me?" says the Lord Almighty. *Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. *Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority.

Honour is a very vital principle in the kingdom of God. Another word for honour is reverence - which means to show or treat with deep respect. When the Bible talks about fearing God, it is actually instructing us to reverence God or show deep respect and awe for God. God wants us to honour Him in our thoughts, with our words and with our actions. He wants our reverence for Him to be reflected in everything we do and the way we lead our lives. He wants us to honour Him with our substance, Prov.3:9. God wants us to honour people also. He wants us to honour each other, (Rom.12:10) and He wants men to honour their wives and treat them as weaker vessels, 1Pet.3:7. He wants us to honour our parents (Eph.6:2) and those in authority over us (1Tim.6:1) especially our spiritual leaders, 1Tim.5:17.
We are not to honour people because they are nice or treat us well or because we want something from them or in their presence alone like the world does. He wants us to honour people because they are made in the image and likeness of God. When Jesus said a prophet is not without honour except in his own house (Matt.13:57), he was saying that this is a wrong principle in the world that makes people miss out on a lot of the grace, blessings and lifting that God wants to bring into their lives. The people of His hometown missed out on receiving many mighty miracles because they refused to recognize the grace of God that was upon His life, Matt.13:57.
PRAYER:Thank God for the wisdom and grace that He has given you to honour Him always from your heart and to honour people also.
