Empowered for greater obedience by faith
Genesis 22:1-3 (NKJV)
Now it came to pass … that God tested Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!" …, "Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you." So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went...

How quickly do you obey and respond to what God directs you to do from His Word and by His Spirit? When God instructed Abraham to take Isaac “his only son, whom he loved” to “a certain place” that He (God) was going to show him, Abraham rose up early the next morning, made all the necessary preparations and he set out on this journey of faith. He did not wait to think about or to give an excuse or to push it off to another time. Delayed obedience is actually a form of rebellion. Do not allow your flesh to deceive you out of obeying God because of how difficult or unpleasant God's instruction may seem to your mind. Faith is not only about getting things from God. Faith is also about giving things to God and giving up things or making sacrifices. The Bible declares that Abraham offered Isaac, Heb.11:17. In his heart, he had already offered him to God.
There are very great blessings that always accompany our willing obedience to God, Isa.1:19, Gen.22:15-18. When you know the great blessings that await you as you obey God you will obey Him willingly. Something very important that you must also know is that God will never ask you to do something that He has not empowered you to do in Christ. So step out in faith and obedience to God. As you do you will see the provision that God has already made in Christ for you.
Just as Abraham saw the substitute ram that was caught by the horn in the thicket, (Gen.22:13), you will see the grace and ability that God has provided for you in Christ so you can do what He (God) is asking you to do. You can forgive, you can walk in love, you can preach the gospel, you can say no to that temptation, you can heal the sick you can do all things through Christ that strengthens you, Phil.4:13. You can do exploits. Believe God by faith and step out and obey Him.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I thank you for the ability and provisions you have made for me in Christ to obey you and do your will. I also thank you for the great blessings that will accompany my faith and obedience to your Word.
