Receiving From God by Responding to Him

Receiving From God by Responding to Him

Genesis 12:1-4 (NIV)
The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you. "I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." So Abram left, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Author PhotoGod wants us to change our perspective of the directions and instructions He gives to us. God never asks us to do anything because He wants something from us. He is God all by Himself and He doesn't need anything from us to make Him more God. Whenever God gives us a direction or instruction, it is because He wants to give or make us something. It might be an opportunity to partner with Him to bless the lives of others or to bring us into a deeper experience of His love. God's directions and instructions are not difficult punishments, 1John 5:3. As with Abraham in our text above, they are divine invitations for glorious experiences with God. Whenever God asks us to do something, it is always because He has given us the empowerment and enablement to do it. What we therefore have to do is believe, receive and activate that divine ability that God has given us to do what He requires of us so that we can receive what He desires for us. Maintaining this consciousness will prevent us from struggling in our own wisdom and efforts.

In every area of our life and walk with God, everything starts from God. We love Him because He first loved us, 1John 4:19. He is the author and finisher of our faith, Heb.12:2. He is at work in us making us willing and able to do His will, Phil.2:13. He is our source and it is all about Him. He is the vine and we are the branches, John 15:5. Every fruit we produce comes from His great life in us. Our duty at all times is to receive and respond to God's life and provisions for us.

PRAYER: I thank You, Lord, for Your great life and wonderful provisions that You have made for me to do Your will at all times.
