*The Overflow of the Word*

_Let the message about Chrtst, in all its richness, fill your lives.

Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. *So the word of the Lord grew mighty and prevailed. * So the message about the Lord spread widely and had a powerful effect._

Before there can be an overflow of a substance in a vessel or container, that substance will first have to flow in or be poured into that container. Then and only then can the substance begin to overflow or pour out of the container. In the same way, before the word of God can overflow from your life, it first has to consume you. Before God's word can prevail in your life, it has to grow mightily first. You have to value God's word and pay a lot of attention to it. You must hear and listen attentively whenever God's word is preached and you must study, meditate, believe, confess, pray and act on it.

Why does God want His word to grow in you and overflow from your life? One reason is that it will affect your entire consciousness. Your thought patterns, your confessions and your actions will be influence by God's word. You will begin to see and react to things iust as God does. God's reality will become your reality. You will walk in greater faith and boldness. The Spirit and life of the word of God will influence your spirit and your life. You will be fruitful (Psalm 1 :1-3) and the word of God will produce great fruit in your life, Matt. 13:23. With ease, you will be able to preach and share God's word with others. An overflow causes the substance in the container to be seen and to have an effect on whatever remains outside the container. Jesus is the word of God. Our first text above confirms that it is the revelation of Christ that God wants to fill your life richly and overflow from you.

Prayer:
I receive Your grace, Almighty God, to allow your word to grow mightily in me. I desire an overflow of your word in my life!
