God’s Recipe for Newness 2

wineskins, for the new wine bursts the old skins, ruining the skins and spilling the wine. New wine must be put into new wineskins. But no one after drinking the old wine seems to want the fresh and the new. ‘The old ways are best,’ they say. *why is the Lord taking us into that land? We will be killed in battle; Wouldn’t it be better to go back to Egypt? ... “Let’s choose a leader and go back to Egypt.Tuesday, Jan.08, 2019
God’s Recipe for Newness 2
Luke 5:37-39 (LB), Numbers 14:3-4(GNB) And no one puts new wine into old
So many believers fail to renew their minds in order to be transformed into more of Christ’s likeness because they are ignorant of the wonderful things that God has in store for them. Trapped in their comfort zones, they are accustomed to the way their lives have been and have grown resistant to the possibility that there are, in fact, great things (new wine) that God wants to do both in and through our lives that He will not do if we refuse to change our minds (our old wineskins). Without renewing our minds and being transformed, we will be unable to contain the new things that God wants to do both in and through our lives.
As we start making progress in renewing our minds, we will face either distractions or discouragements that will cause us to retreat our old form of thinking. Beloved, this is not God’s will for us. It may be the fear of the unknown or some other evil report like what the children of Israel heard that made them want to return to the captivity of Egypt. The devil will tell you that you do not deserve or you do not have the capacity to change, grow and enter into the new land that God has planned for you, but like Joshua and Caleb told the children of Israel, we must continually tell ourselves: “let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it, Numb 13:30. The land is an exceeding good land and the Lord will bring us into it, every challenge we will face shall be bread for us. Num. 14:7-9. Nothing shall stop your progress into newness.

Prayer:
I receive your grace, dear Lord, to remain focused and consistent in renewing my mind to align with your will for my life.
