Be Awake!

Romans 13:11-13 (NIV)
And do this, understanding the present time. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. …; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime,… clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

1Chronicles 12:32 says the children of Issachar had an understanding of the times and they knew what Israel was supposed to be doing. This made them to have great influence among their peers. Do you understand the times we are in, do you know what you are supposed to be doing in these times and are you doing those things diligently? God doesn't want us to be dead or sleeping in these times. He wants us to be awake and actively walking in His light. Ephesians 5:14 (NKJV) says “awake you who sleep, Arise from the dead and Christ will give you light.” If we don't want to be dead or sleeping in these times, we must not be careless about God and about spiritual things and we must also not engage in any kind of work of darkness. What we should be doing right now is clothing ourselves with more of Christ's nature and crucifying the desires of our sinful nature.

We should be walking and maturing in the light and ways of God. We should be making good use of every opportunity to understand and fulfill God's will and purpose for our lives. Instead of being drunk or high with wine or anything else, we should be filling ourselves with more of God's Spirit, Eph.5:15-18 (GNB). We should be growing in love, 1John 2:10-11. We must be prayerful. By faith, prayer and the Word of God, our spirits will continue to dominate over our flesh.

PRAYER FOCUS: Pray in the Spirit right now and receive fresh grace to be more sensitive, fervent and strong spiritually.
