Impacting others and future Generations
John 17:19-20, Isaiah 58:12 And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth. Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;*And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
God wants us to do good things that will positively affect the lives of others and even future generations. Are you living just for yourself and for the now, or are you investing in the lives of others and future generations? Jesus is our greatest example when it comes to impacting others and future generations. In our text above, Jesus said He sanctified Himself so that His disciples would be sanctified. When Jesus was on this earth, He did not only impact His disciples a lot, He prayed for them a lot and also prayed for every one of us who will eventually become His disciples. Jesus thought about future generations and He made preparations for us. Our second text above says we would raise up the foundations of many generations.
God wants to lead you every day and use you to do great things that will save lives and positively influence future generations. Philippians 2:4-5 admonishes us to have the same mind that Christ has in being concerned about the things that affect others and not just ourselves. When the Bible says a good man leaves an inheritance for his children's children (Prov.13:22), this inheritance extends beyond material wealth and possessions. The word children is also beyond physical children. The good works and the seeds you sow into the lives of others are a major inheritance you are leaving for your children, your children's children and all those connected to you. Unlike the way many people around us behave, we must keep following God's leading to continue praying and making those sacrifices and investments for others and for future generations.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, please use me today to impact the lives of others and to make great sacrifices and investments for future generations.
