The Purpose of our Dominion

John 17:2-4 (NIV), Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)
For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.*..., “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, … surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

The dominion that we have is that of Jesus Himself. We are His Ambassadors and He has delegated us to rule and reign on the earth on His behalf. The number one purpose of our dominion is to reflect that of Christ. We are empowered to dominate just like Christ would have done if he was in our shoes and to bless and impact the lives of others just like Christ. We don't dominate people; we love, lead, bless and influence people to follow God. We dominate the devil and every circumstance that is not the will of God for our lives and that of others. Ephesians 6:12 says “for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

And we dominate over the devil and all his agents by enforcing the dominion and victory that Christ has already won over them. So we heal the sick, we cast out devils, we cleanse lepers, we raise the dead, we preach the gospel and get people baptized in the Holy Spirit. We meet needs and we solve problems. We dominate over sin, poverty, failure and frustration. By the dominion of Christ, we are empowered to do God's will on earth as it is in Heaven. One major purpose of our dominion is to bring glory to God. God is glorified when we do His will and when we are fruitful. In John 15:8, Jesus said “by this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.” Nothing can stop you from bearing much fruit.

PRAYER FOCUS: Tell God that you are ready to reflect the dominion of Christ to bring him glory, bless lives and overcome the devil.
