Don't Cut Yourself Out 2
1 Peter 5:6-7, Hebrews 4:15-16 (NLT) Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. *This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
Is there anything we cannot or should not pray to God about? I really love the words of that hymn that says, what a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear, what a privilege to carry, everything to God in prayer. O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer. God wants us to pray about everything, Phil.4:6. If it concerns you and is important to you, it concerns God and is important to Him. God genuinely loves and cares about you; much more than your friends and those that you may want to share your burdens with. He wants you to involve Him.
As you reach out to God in faith concerning your desires, you are affording Him permission to intervene and grant you His power and grace concerning that issue. Even when it seems like you have everything under control, still commit that issue or area of your life to God in prayer. In prayer, we show God that our trust is in Him. There are things that God wants to do, both in and through your life that you may not even be aware are possible. This is one reason why praying in tongues over issues is very vital. As we pray in tongues, we are speaking and activating great and divine mysteries, 1Cor.14:2. Don't make prayer your last resort. Don't wait to first suffer many things, like the woman who had an issue of blood (Mark 10:25-29) before reaching out to Jesus to receive His touch and power. Do not cut yourself out of the grace that God is liberally extending to you.
PRAYER FOCUS: Thank God for His great love for you and for His willingness to manifest His power in your life. Pray in the spirit.
