Exalt the Name of Jesus
Matthew 21:6-9
And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. And the multitudes … cried, saying, Hosanna to the Son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

God has highly exalted Jesus and given Him a name that is above every name in Heaven, on earth and under the earth, Phil.2:9-10. We need to exalt the name of Jesus and give Him the kind of honour and reverence that He deserves. The verses that follow our text above show us that the way Jesus was celebrated as he entered Jerusalem caused people to wonder and inquire about who He was. God wants us to similarly exalt the name of Jesus so much that people will be moved to know and experience Him in their lives also.
Exalting the name of Jesus actually starts from our hearts. 1Peter 3:15 (GNB) says, “but have reverence for Christ in your hearts, and honor him as Lord. Be ready at all times to answer anyone who asks you to explain the hope you have in you.” Be glad in your heart that you belong to Jesus and that He is in your life. Be glad because of how great and powerful He is and because of all the wonderful things that He did for you on the cross. This stokes your faith in God, imploring you to consistently speak about His great works in your life. In your heart, cast down every imagination and every high thing that endeavours to exalt itself against the knowledge of God, and capture every thought, causing it to obey Christ, 2Cor.10:5. In your mind, declare Christ's greatness and lordship. Who He is and what He has done is more powerful than everyone and everything else. As you continue to exalt Jesus, you will experience more of His power and glory in your life.
PRAYER FOCUS: Exalt the name of Jesus in your heart right now and give Him the honour and glory He deserves. Declare His absolute power, glory and lordship over every situation in your life.
