Christ has made the power, grace and blessings of God available for us right now as our inheritance. In the same way one should exercise caution in giving an inheritance to a child who is not mature enough to understand and utilize that inheritance well, we also cannot understand and experience the fullness of our inheritance in God if we do not grow up spiritually. The Spirit of Christ in us makes us mature sons and daughters that can enjoy the inheritance God has for us in Christ, Gal.4:1-7. Spiritual maturity is a reflection of how much our lives align and conform to Christ as His revelation fills us. Our text above clearly shows that it is the word or revelation of God's grace that builds us up and gives us our inheritance in God; not the revelation of the law.

Diligently Feed on the Revelation of Christ

John 1:17 says, the law was given by Moses but grace and truth came by Christ. The law makes demands on us without empowering us, but the grace of God empowers us to receive all that Christ has done for us so we can be all that God wants us to be. The power of God is activated in our lives as we exercise our faith in the gospel or good news about the wonderful things God has done for us in Christ, Rom.1:16. 1Peter 2:2 admonishes us to desire the sincere milk of the word so that we will grow by it. What is this sincere milk of the word? 1Peter 1:25 says, “but the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” The word is the gospel or revelation of all that God has done for us in Christ.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I receive the grace to be built up spiritually by filling myself with the revelation of the things You have done for me in Christ.
