The Devil is Already Defeated!
Colossians 2:15 (NIV), Hebrews 2:14 (NIV)
And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. * Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil.

Do you realise that Jesus has disarmed the devil and all principalities and powers for your sake? They no longer have any power or authority over your life. To disarm is to neutralize, to take away weapons or to render of null effect. No weapon formed against you shall prosper and you shall condemn every tongue that rises against you in judgment, Isa.54:17. Listen, the devil is not the head of principalities and powers, Jesus is. Colossians 2:10 says, “and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” The NIV says, “ and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.” In Luke 10:19, Jesus made it clear that He has given us authority over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt us. Jesus did not say he has given us some power over the enemy, He said all and our text above confirms that Christ defeated all powers and forces.
Though he is defeated, the devil still endeavors to use various wiles or tricks to test your knowledge of Christ's victory over him. Always remember that it is not your duty to defeat the devil; Jesus has already done that. Your duty is to stand in the faith of what Jesus has done and to enforce the victory that He has already won for you. The Bible urges us to submit to God and to resist the devil - he shall flee, James 4:7. As the devil roams around 'like' a roaring lion, we exercise our victory over him by being steadfast in the faith and resisting him, 1Peter 5:8-9 (NKJV).
PRAYER: Dear Father, I thank You for the victory that Christ has won over the devil for me! I receive Your grace to exercise it continually.
