| A Great Need in Every Society | |
Galatians 5:22-23, Matt 5:13 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. *Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Today, we will be focusing on the last phrase in our first text above - “against such there is no law.” Have you noticed that just like God's word states in our text above, there is no society, organization or group of people that enact laws against being loving, being joyful, being peaceful, being able to bear and endure for long, being gentle, being good, faithful, humble and having self-control?
Now ask yourself this question: how different would our society be if everyone chose to manifest the fruit of the Spirit? How would our organizations, families and nations differ? That, beloved, is how the word of God can revolutionize society. The gospel is a viable tool for societal transformation.
By preaching the gospel through various means and by praying and supporting the preaching of the gospel, we are contributing to the development of our society and our world more than we actually realize. We must preach the gospel more than ever before and must continue to live as true disciples of Christ if we want to see real changes in our societies and our world. As we yield ourselves more to the leading of God's Spirit in us, the fruit of the Spirit will continue to develop and manifest in our lives. We will indeed be the salt and light of our world. Do not compromise the truth of God's word and do not compromise your character. Keep being transformed by the renewing of your mind. Keep praying for the gospel to penetrate nations, societies, organizations and families even more.
PRAYER FOCUS: Ask God for a greater penetration of His word into our lives and into our world. Pray for God's word to transform lives.
