The Sheep of His Pasture
Psalm 100:3, John 10:27-28, Matthew 25:32
Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. *My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Today, we will study a few Biblical references to the word “sheep” as a description of those that belong to God. First of all, we are called God's sheep because He is our Shepherd. He leads us, guides us, provides for us, trains us and abides with us.
As His sheep, we have nothing to fear because He is a Good Shepherd. His exceeding love was manifested in His willingness to give up His life for us and in His promises not to withhold any good thing from us. We are privileged to be His sheep. As His sheep, however, there are some responsibilities bestowed upon us. We are to fellowship and maintain a good relationship with Jesus our Shepherd in order to readily recognize His voice and follow Him. As we do this, He will continue to fill us with His life and blessings.
A major reflection of our spiritual maturity is our increasing love for God and others. As His sheep, He expects us to love others the way He loves us. That is the nature of the sheep described in Matthew 25: 32-46. We are to love and treat others the same way we would treat Jesus. According to Jesus, whatever we do to the least of His brethren, we do unto Him.
PRAYER FOCUS: Thank Jesus, your Good Shepherd, for His great love and care over your life. Receive grace to fellowship with Him more, to continue to follow His leading and to grow in love for others.
