Following Jesus' Passion
John 21:13-15 (NIV)
Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead. When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?" "Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my lambs."

------------------------------------------------------
Jesus was never against Peter's passion for fishing. In fact, the Bible references two major accounts of Jesus helping Peter catch fish in Luke 5 and in John 21. There was even a time that Jesus instructed Peter to go fishing in order to obtain a coin from the mouth of a fish so that they could pay their tax, Matt.17:24-27.
One thing that Jesus eagerly desired was for Peter to love Him more than everything else and for Peter to have the same passion for souls that Jesus had. Jesus is not against the passion you have for your business, career or any other noble venture you may be engaged in. In fact, like we studied yesterday, He is always ready to bless you and to lead you into an experience of abundance in whatever you may be engaged in. However, one thing that Jesus also desires for you is for you to love Him more than everything else and for you to maintain the same passion for souls that He has.
Loving Jesus more than anything else will result in your life being different from the lives of others around you. Jesus wants you to be His disciple indeed and really surrender your life to Him. Make Him your Lord and Saviour and also make yourself available for Him to use in touching the lives of others. Follow His ways and honour Him. Do not compromise or follow the evil ways of this world. In the same way Jesus used Peter's boat in Luke 5 to minister to the crowd by the sea shore, be sensitive for when Jesus is endeavouring to reach out to touch the lives of others through whatever you may be engaged in.
PRAYER FOCUS: Surrender to Jesus and tell Him that you love Him more than everything else. Ask Him to use you to touch lives.
