Be a Cheerful Giver

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (NIV)
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

God wants you to give cheerfully; whether it is your tithe, offering, substance, time or energy. In our text above, the seventh verse says that “God loves a cheerful giver”. This is amazing! It is not about the giving but about the attitude and manner one maintains in giving. Every time you give, God wants you to do it willingly, cheerfully and joyfully through Christ Jesus. Col 3:23 (KJV) says, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men”.

I want you to know that you cannot beat God in giving. God is the greatest giver and He has already given us Christ, His only Son and with Christ, He has given us all things, John 3:16 and Romans 8:31-32. Everything that you have and all that you are came from Christ and He wants you to diligently and consistently give towards the promotion of His kingdom here on earth.

Dear child of God, when you give rightly (cheerfully), you honour God and demonstrate your faith and confidence in Him. You are saying to Him, Lord, I know you are my source and everything. Acts 20:35 says, “It is more blessed to give than to receive”. Listen, when you give, you always get more in return because He is the Lord of the harvest, Matthew 9:38. Therefore, make up your mind that you will always give cheerfully towards the advancement of the kingdom of God.

PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for giving me all things in Christ Jesus and the grace to give cheerfully towards the advancement of Your kingdom. I ask for more opportunities to give because You love a cheerful giver.
