Be Anxious for Nothing
Philippians 4:6-7(NIV) Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Beloved, our text above is one of the most profound statements and instructions that you will find in the scriptures. Apostle Paul urges and encourages us to be anxious for nothing. Beloved, nothing deserves or merits your anxiety. You are not called to be anxious but to be thankful and prayerful. According to the Oxford Dictionary, anxiety is defined as“a feeling of worry, nervousness, or unease about something with an uncertain outcome.” Notice that anxiety is connected to worry and nervousness over the issues and challenges of life.
In Matthew 6:25-33, our Lord and Saviour Jesus explicitly commanded us not to worry (be anxious) about our lives, body or things we will eat, drink and wear. He went further to say that we should not be anxious about tomorrow.
Many believers today remain in a state of anxiousness and worry. They are anxious about their health due to a negative report from the doctor, forgetting that Jesus is the Great Physician. Some are worried about meeting family needs, paying children's fees, getting jobs or sustaining their businesses, etc. They have forgotten that the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof (Psalm 24:1).
Stop being anxious. Instead, take heed to God's word. Every time you are faced with issues and challenges, rather than becoming anxious, take it to God in prayers. Pray and be thankful because all your spiritual, mental, emotional, financial and physicals needs have been met in Christ Jesus.
PRAYER: Thank God for blessing you with all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus and ask Him to help you stay focused on His word and promises, rather than your challenges.
