Grow Up and Be Responsible
Ecclesiastes 10:16-17 (KJV & CEV)
Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning! Blessed art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness! *A country is in for trouble when its ruler is childish, and its leaders party all day long. But a nation will prosper when its ruler is mature, and its leaders don't party too much.

One of the determinants of maturity in people is their perspective on things like wealth, promotions, grace and opportunities and how they make use of or utilise the things that they have. Mature people see wealth, promotion, grace and opportunities as resources and responsibilities to please God and fulfill purpose, not as rewards and tools for their pleasure, enjoyment and the indulgence of their fleshly desires. They can take nothing (or something that does not have much value) and make something great out of it, while immature people take things that are valuable and misuse, destroy and reduce them to nothing.
What makes you who you are is not your title or the possessions you have, but your mindset, character and attitude via which you carry out your responsibilities and the manner in which you make use of your possessions. One thing that will certainly guide you towards the right mindset, character and attitude is your willingness to patiently go through the process of growing up and becoming responsible. Jesus Himself had to grow up. He grew in wisdom, in stature and in favour with God and with man, Luke 2:52. He deliberately developed His mindset, His physical body/ health and His relationships with God and with men. One of the things that helped Jesus to grow up was His submission to authority. Submission to authority attracts maturity. Jesus submitted to God's authority (John 8:28) and to the authority of His parents, Luke 2:51. The Bible says that though He was a Son, He learned obedience by the things He suffered, Heb.5:8.
PRAYER: Dear Father, help me to yield myself to You and to the authorities that You have placed over me. Help me to grow and become mature.
