Don't Dilute God's Word With Human Traditions

Mark 7:8 & 13 (NIV), Colossians 2:8-9 (NIV)
You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.” *Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that.”*See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.

One of the major strongholds that we need to deliberately take captive, cast down and bring into alignment with Christ (2Cor.10:4-5) is every human tradition that is not in line with the truth of God's word. Our first text above reveals that these human traditions can nullify (make of no effect) the power of the word of God in our lives.
Why do you believe what you believe and why do you do the things that you do? Is it because the word of God says so or because that is what you have been made to believe and practice over time?

For some people, it is certain superstitious beliefs that they have just refused to let go of. And the thing is, both the devil, as well as many false prophets, know how to take advantage of believers who do not know what God's word says about them. They know how to take advantage of believers who would rather uphold superstitious beliefs that are inconsistent with their present truth and reality in Christ. 1Peter 1:18-19 says that by the blood of Jesus you have been redeemed from the vain human traditions handed down to you by your ancestors. So instead of trying to dilute or limit the word of God in your life by conforming to this world, make your life conform and align with God's word concerning you, Rom.12:2. Let God be true and let everyone and everything else be a liar in your life, Rom.3:4. Spend time to study and know God's word for yourself. Learn God's ways and listen to God's Spirit. Ask questions and keep declaring the word of God until it becomes your mindset. God's word will continue to have great effect in your life.

PRAYER: I receive your grace, Dear Father, to cast down every human tradition that goes against Your word. I align myself with Your truth.
