Be Sensitive to the Spirit
Luke 8:8, 11 & 15 (NKJV), Revelation 2:29
But others fell on good ground, sprang up, and yielded a crop a hundredfold.” When He had said these things He cried, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” * “Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. *But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience.* “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

If Jesus sat beside you and asked to speak to you, how would you respond to Him? It may be very easy for you to answer this question right now, but I want you to consider the manner in which you respond when you are hearing God's word or having personal fellowship with Him. God is always sending His word to us by His Spirit and like Jesus cried out in our first text above, God is concerned about how much of our attention we pay to him and whether or not we are allowing His word to penetrate our hearts. We ought to respond to the Holy Spirit in the same way we would respond to Jesus, because the Holy Spirit is one with Jesus. In John 16:12-15, Jesus described the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of Truth and as One that would reveal wonderful things to us.
The Holy Spirit wants to show us the future, He wants to reveal Christ and the things Christ has done for us and He wants to manifest the power and glory of Christ in our lives. He wants to reveal the wisdom of God and the deep things on God's mind to you, 1Cor.2:7-12. Faith comes by our hearing what God is saying (the proceeding word). Jesus said that whosoever hears His word and applies it to his life will have a strong and stable life, Matt.7:24-25. To experience all of these wonderful things, we have to be very deliberate about listening attentively to the Spirit of God; both in our times of personal fellowship with God and in every area of our lives. We must train our spirits to be meek and quiet (1Pet.3:4), despite all the distractions around us.
PRAYER: Dear Father, I receive Your grace to be meeker, quieter in my spirit and more attentive to the voice of Your Spirit.
