Receive God's Mercies
2Samuel 9:1, 3-4a, Romans 9:15-16 (NKJV)
David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan's sake?” Ziba answered.., “There is still a son of Jonathan; he is lame in both feet.” “Where is he?” the king asked.. *For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.” So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy.

--------------------------------------------------------------
When David inquired for any member of Saul's household that he could show mercy to, Ziba was very quick to convey to David that Jonathan's son was lame in his feet. He wanted to portray Mephibosheth's weakness, probably because he believed that it would cause David to change his mind about showing Mephibosheth kindness. But that did not stop David in any way. How much more do you think God will show you His love and kindness because of Christ? Men may not feel you deserve God's mercy, but God will not consult men before He shows you His mercy and kindness. Do you realize that when Mephibosheth came before David, he referred to himself as a dead dog, 2Sam.9:8? He felt very hopeless and afraid.
Mephibosheth actually became lame when he fell from a maid's hands, as they tried to flee following news of Saul and Jonathan's death, 2Sam.4:4. (At that time, a new king that takes over power from another king generally killed every member of the old kings' family to ensure that there would not be a potential future hostile takeover.) Instead of receiving the death that he feared, Mephibosheth received great love and kindness, 2Sam.9:9-10&13. Your weakness will not stop God from showing you His love and kindness. His love and kindness will heal you and lift you out of that weakness or situation. Do not disqualify yourself when God has not disqualified you. Do not run away from God when you need Him the most.
Come boldly to God's throne of grace to obtain His mercy and to find His grace to help you in your area of need, Heb.4:16.
PRAYER FOCUS: Receive God's abundant mercies in that area of your life where you
need it the most.
