Grace for Great Secret Victories
Exodus 2:7-8, 1Samuel 17:34-35
Then said his sister to Pharaoh's daughter, Shall I go and call to thee a nurse of the Hebrew women, that she may nurse the child for thee? And Pharaoh's daughter said to her, Go. And the maid went and called the child's mother. *And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth.

In the same way we often admire a tall and beautiful building without reflecting on the very strong foundation that upholds it, we often times fail to realize that great public victories are often produced by great secret victories. For example, Hebrews 11:24-29 speaks of Moses' faith in standing for God and fulfilling God's purpose despite the fact that he was raised in Pharaoh's house. The Bible does not deeply explore Moses' foundation or provide much insight as to how he was able to develop such strong faith. However, our first text above gives us a hint into this. Though Moses was in Pharaoh's house, he was well trained and raised up by his mother Jochebed, Numb.26:59. If you are a parent, the wisdom and grace to train and raise your children in a manner that is well grounded is upon you today. Mordecai played a great role in Esther's success, Esth.2:5-7 & 11, Esth.4:13-17. As a leader in any capacity, you will train and raise your followers well and they will be great leaders.
In secret, David killed a lion and bear to protect his father's sheep. David also developed his relationship with God in secret during this time. Now, all these people were not trying to do something that was spectacular. Nor were they acting to generate public award or recognition. They simply decided, in their normal everyday life, to give their best to what they were already engaged in, even when no one was looking. Their success began from the secret place. Remain faithful and diligent. Your secret victories will produce much more fruits and results than you anticipate.
PRAYER: Help me, Lord, to persist and persevere in making great sacrifices and doing the right thing right from my secret place.
