You Always Have the Advantage

You Always Have the Advantage

   WEDNESDAY
       JULY. 12

2 Kings 6:15-16 (NIV)
When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. "Oh, my lord, what shall we do?" the servant asked. "Don't be afraid," the prophet answered. "Those who are with us are more than those who are with them."

According to our text above, Elisha was confident that because of the Almighty God and the angels of the Almighty God that were with him, he maintained the advantage in every situation he found himself in. Do you realise that you always have the advantage in any situation that you face? Today, we shall look at a few of the many things that should help you maintain this consciousness.

The first is what Christ has done. The second is the presence of the Holy Spirit and third is God’s promise that all things work together for your good. You must understand that what Christ has done for you has more effect and power than what Adam did. In the New Living Translation, Romans 5:17 says, for the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God's wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ. Because of Christ, you are blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places (Eph.1:6) and you have all that pertains to life and godliness (2Pet.1:3).

The same confidence that accompanied the disciples because of the presence of Christ is the same confidence that we must maintain because the Holy Spirit is one with Jesus and He is with us and in us, John 14:16-17. In the New Living Translation, Romans 8:28 confidently reminds us that “and we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”

PRAYER FOCUS: Rejoice that because of Christ’s works, the Holy Spirit’s presence and God’s promises, you always have the advantage.
