Blessings of Doing Good Works
Hebrews 6:10 (NKJV), Revelation 22:12 (NKJV), 2 Tim.4:8 (NKJV)
For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister. *"And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. *Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

In Matthew 6:1-18, Jesus warned us not to give, pray and fast simply for the applause and praise of men. He assured us that when we engage in these activities in secret (with the right motive), God who sees in secret will reward us openly. In the New International Version, giving alms to men as stated in this passage is described as 'acts of righteousness.'
Our God Himself is surely going to bless and reward us for all our good works. Jesus is coming back again and when He comes, our good works will be rewarded. The way to show that we love the appearing or coming of Jesus that Apostle Paul referenced in our last text above is to commit ourselves to doing and completing the good works He has assigned for us to do.
The Bible says, “for no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire, 1Cor.3:11-15. Our works do not save us. Only our faith in Christ saves us. But our works determine the rewards we will receive when Christ returns. We build on the foundational works Christ has done for us by expressing His life and doing good works. And we must do this with the right motive: love for God and love for men.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I receive Your grace to build on the works that Christ has done for me by doing good works from a heart of love.
